In response to an impending global shift in power and the emotional weight many people were carrying in isolation, I partnered with Reset to design a series of grassroots dinner gatherings rooted in collective sense-making and care. Through purpose discovery, we clarified the deeper intention: to create spaces for shared witness, conversation, grief, and hope—countering the loneliness of consuming global events alone through screens. Rather than aiming for large-scale mobilization, we focused on intimacy, dignity, and relational depth as the foundation for collective power.
Using prototype design, we shaped the simplest meaningful format: small, family-style sit-down dinners with light facilitation and a shared meal as the connective tissue. I supported the facilitation and hosting, creating a grounded container that welcomed honest reflection while allowing joy and connection to emerge naturally. Chef-led conversation about food as a site of connection helped anchor the experience in the body, not just ideas. Through reflection and next steps, the gatherings revealed their strength as a repeatable, adaptable model—one that could be deepened, expanded, or replicated to support communities navigating uncertainty together with care, courage, and humanity.
Honouring the Grief for Our World
"We need to create circles of welcome in our lives in order to keep leaning into the world.
To keep moving grief through our psyches and bodies, so we can taste the sweetness of life"
-Francis Weller

Hope in the Cracks is a welcomed reprieve from the frenzy of these times. In the company of caring others, you will experience Joshua’s gift as a facilitator, offering thoughtful guidance to feel both the weight of these times as well as the relief that comes from knowing you are not alone in bearing it.
I attended a curated dinner and conversation facilitated by Joshua and it was an incredibly memorable and unique experience. As someone who didn’t know anyone else in the group, I was initially apprehensive, but Joshua immediately disarmed me and created an atmosphere of radical presence, warmth and inclusion.
His ability to make everyone feel welcome and safe to share their thoughts and ideas was a joy to observe. As the evening and conversation progressed, it was clear that Joshua brings deep sociopolitical awareness, weaving relevant and insightful perspectives into the discussion, while fostering an environment that encouraged critical thinking.
What stood out most was his future-focused approach—he facilitated conversations that not only engaged with current issues but also explored innovative solutions for more connected tomorrows. Can’t wait to do this again!
